A Quiet Place has everybody talking including MCU star Chris Pratt, who shared his thoughts on the film. The actor was so inspired that he stopped to share his thoughts on Instagram about the movie from John Krasinski.
The film takes place in a world where aliens who can detect humans based on sound alone have invaded Earth. A Quiet Place focuses on the Abbott family and its patriarch Lee Abbot (Krasinski), his wife Evelyn (Emily Blunt), and their children Regan (Millicent Simmonds) and Marcus (Noah Jupe). It’s Fflled with incredible performances from the cast and chemistry between both the parents (Krasinski and Blunt are married in real life) and Lee and his daughter Regan. The film is notable for using silence to create an air of dread, though it also uses it to break boundaries. Regan, played by Simmonds, is deaf, which adds an entirely new dimension to the terror that makes it a very special film in the world of horror.

It’s also good, as Pratt himself shared on Instagram. The actor praised the inventiveness of A Quiet Place, dubbed the monsters freaky and called himself “stoked” on the movie. The ringing endorsement of Krasinski’s project inspired a number of positive comments about the movie, which has a 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has taken the top spot at the box office with $45 million. A Quiet Place’s inventive take on atmosphere, along with its premise, clearly made an impression on Pratt.
He’s not the only one. Author and master of horror Stephen King took to Twitter to praise A Quiet Place, calling it an extraordinary piece of work. Krasinski responded in kind, flattered by the attention. The sequel to King’s own work, IT, has begun filming, and kind, words from the horror icon are sure to be counted as very high praise. What Krasinski will do with the critical acclaim remains to be seen, but a film with glowing reviews like these from actors and audiences alike are sure to win the film a sequel.
A Quiet Place is the latest film on a rapidly growing list that offers a look at perspectives not traditionally seen in scary movies. Horror fans are seeing a new generation of storytellers who are telling horror films and science fiction films from different perspectives. The breakout star of the film is Simmond’s Regan, who delivers a poignant and powerful performance, and fans should hope that A Quiet Place spawns a sequel or indeed more movies to spotlight the up-and-coming actress.
At the very least, A Quiet Place and the praise audiences are sharing about the film should inspire other filmmakers to take a chance on pieces like this. Both the inventive use of sound and the important casting of a deaf actress are things to be celebrated within the industry. A Quiet Place has everyone talking and the conversations must lead to other stories from different perspectives that try new techniques. One can only imagine the stories out there that are ready to scare audiences across the board.
